HubSpot and Salesforce tasks

I'm being pushed to create tasks or reminders since it is a way to show activity. Not sure what the purpose of that is since my emails to customers are being logged. What would you say to a CRO who asks for volume that way?

Or, it's a way to ensure you are not dropping the ball on things that your CRO is asking of you and your colleagues.

He is asking for weekly activity trackers, we have 2 meetings with him a week (team meetings to discuss deals, and then individual follow-ups), and now this. From what I can tell, about half of the team isn't really performing, and we are bleeding people every month. Could it be a way to prove that people are doing things rather than just interviewing? Or him trying to keep his job as we are under projections?

Hmmm, I can see it as a proof point that you're doing your job...but dashboards should be able to show that. How do you send emails? Via HubSpot/SFDC or in your email client itself?

Through the email client and we have a plug-in.

They are making sure you are where you need to be in the process of each account. At the end of the day, you really cannot remember everything, so this should be helpful to you.

We already have a progress tracker within the CRM, notes for each meeting, and email (also tracked). We also have 2 weekly meetings to discuss deals. Just seems like an extra waste of time.

Updating your progress is key should you leave or switch territories etc - nothing wrong with diligent notes and trackers.

Yeah, every deal has a tracker that tracks meetings and notes. This is additional tasks on top of that and an additional external tracker that we all fill out.

yeah, I have to think that it's all CYA, pushing the blame that deals aren't closing as fast as he wanted. I think he oversold how short he can make the cycle and year-end targets. We've been interviewing people constantly and still losing at least 1 person every month.

I always do that. Make a call, make a note. Send an email, make a note. Need to do something, write a reminder.  I think its helpful.

I find the reminders very helpful, as it keeps me on track and ensures I'm completing things I need to during the sales cycle.   While it may be a way to monitor the reps from the CRO's perspective, you can use it as another tool to keep the deals moving.

I prefer using tasks for next steps and follow up reminders. And for any open deals, that does give more clear visibility into how you’re advancing the deal or at least working it.

We have multiple other trackers, and it just adds to showing busy work.

From reading all your comments I would suggest just asking him why it's necessary for you. You can even take this one step further and A/B test this. One week do the tasks, and one week don't. Then you will have rock solid data to show your CRO how much time it's taking out of your day.
