I have less than 2k leads - how long until I run out of a job?

Happy Monday savages,

I have taken an emergency job; it's not great, but it pays my bills. Just barely.

However, we work within a 50-mile radius of the office; so leads are finite.

After doing some prospecting, I can come up with around 1500 numbers (stretching them) to call. After this, no more leads, forever :o

Considering my call metrics are 320 per week, how long until I realistically run out of leads and have to search for something new?

This depends on a few factors ofc;

-# of dials per lead before forgetting them is probably the most important.

Maybe 10 calls per lead?

I appreciate any thoughts.

Cheers! Have a great week :)

If you "run out" of leads by scheduling meetings with most of them, then the business would be expanding and so would your territory.
Do you feel like you can succeed in this role with this territory?

Do I feel I can succeed? Yes. However, the company has no plans on expanding since it's a small local company in Miami, it's been around for over 20 years and its service has to be close to its office due to maintenance and weekly visits to clients' sites.

Tough to answer without a bit more context. What's the product? Sales cycle? Ticket price? What do the cadences look like.? Do you have automation or is it all by hand?

My bad. So, IT sevices, we would outsource and handle their IT department and physical machines. Sales cycle about 2 months. Deals are from 24-100k per year (100k is the biggest they can go_ and 24 the lowest. Cold calls, email and LinkedIn outreach, all by hand

So what amounts, on the surface, to a small territory has legs in that world. If it's an emergency job, I might keep the label, but you've got time to work the list. Make sure you're working for referrals once you've got a story to tell. Sell the successes you've built locally.
You could dial all the numbers in 3 weeks, but to thoroughly work through 1500 names you've got time to find a new job. Just gutting it out, sounds like 6 months at least.

Company has been around for 20 years but don't plan to expand? Is everyone else low on leads too?

they have worked 100% based on referrals in the past, im the only sales rep there - CEO wanted to implement outbound so, I got hired to do that. I asked if expanding was in their books, but it doesn't seem like it is. Company is just under 30 employees.. I am trying to figure out by when I won't have a job anymore to start looking some place else. I took it because I am really needing it right now, pay is super low (30k base 10k comish) but it just about pays my basic bills, so I took the first offer that came, which was this..

and bonuses on closed deals (wasn't told a straight number just we will see) so im not even looking at 52k per year with all bonuses + comissions :c I was just on 52k base and 20k bonus at the beginning of the year but damn, job market isn't playing around atm

Do you keep working accounts once they are closed for things like upsells and renewal of services?

nope, the CEO will do that. My job is to get him meetings. SDR work pretty much

What does the CEO have as expectations for you once you contact and either get a Yes or No from everyone in your total addressable market. Start there and then figure out the plan.

So just keep looking on the low low while you're working your leads ๐Ÿคทโ€โ™€๏ธ

I ran into a similar situation in my previous role and eventually, I had to do the math to show leadership what I was working with. Assuming there are 22 working days in a month and you call each lead 5 times, you would need a total of 280 leads per month. This means it is possible that 1500 leads could last 5 months. Of course, other factors are at play, but at least this gives you a rough estimate. Hope this helps!

How many of them do you need to close? Thatโ€™s the more important question.

And is it 1500 numbers = 1500 businesses? Or does that 1500 include multiple people at the same business?

Whatโ€™s the best companies to reach out to for SDR / BDR roles for a career changer looking for solid base comp and decent OTE (financial advisor made 120k last year 3 years hit quota every year cold calling running the sales process so I think I have relevant AE skills but I get taking a step down since I have no SAAS sales skills. (However I have 1.5 years of IT recruiting experience where I also crushed quota and learned a bit about IT broadly) Thanks

Ok so 4 months into this new commercial AE role where Iโ€™m the first AE on the ground and Iโ€™ve sold nothing and have 0 pipeline from inbound or outbound. With 2023 around the corner Iโ€™m living in utter uncertainty and stress given the current pipeline. Should I carry on or look for a new company?
