I have moved to Daily Sprint Huddles rather than long winded Sales Meeting

I have tried something the last 6 months and it is working really well and wanted to share.

Rather than the weekly Sales Meeting I have had my BDMs join a daily huddle every morning. While some are working from the offices and some home we hae found connecting daily to discuss our whats up gives a real sense of accountability.

We have different areas of the business join on certain days but no huddles lasts longer than 15 minutes. The numbers are speaking for themselves.

We are constantly looking back over the previous 2 weeks to work out what we have achieved, failed at, and learnt.

Short meetings are always good IMO and allows the team to get some face time with you and the other team members. And if they need something more, they can ask.

Just a word of caution - a daily meeting can often seem like a "Big Brother taking attendance" move. My company has a daily meeting to discuss RFPs and it often seems like its just taking attendance of those who are there.

We have something like this too every day. I often feel they are taking attendance.

my thoughts?
Short meetings = good. daily meetings = terrible.

what are you sharing in 15 minutes?

We used this method a little during COVID lockdowns here in Australia. It was a way of staying connected. The sprint hudle methodology is used by developers and it helps with accountability. Our product is pretty agile and relys on thrid parties, so it helps knowing when outages happen etc. Each BDM gives a brief overview of their day and what they are doing to tunr the dial. 8.30 - 8.45 and we are done!

hmm really interesting. if its working then i wouldn't change it.

but if i had to tell you what I was doing every day, i would get really annoyed. seems a little low value for me. but again i am not selling your product.

Curious is this also a thing due to some BDMs were logging-in later in the morning, so everyone is now at the computer at 8:30 at the latest?

Since you mentioned accountability a couple of times, I sense there was an issue like this

Not really, we started it under the old boss in march 2020 as a way to stay connected from home. I mean in sales you determine your own destiny right and the numbers will speak for themselves. But we are mostly in office now with exception when people need to be from home. We have become closer as a team as a result.

Absolutely, when done right it's good.

When it's done for the sake of appearances and it's daily, it becomes a morale suck. Especially bad when the topic of discussion could simply be an email.

Short meetings are the best if meetings are required. Best to kick the day off and get it over with. Daily though? maybe like every other day just as a hello and to keep people together.

Thats part of the plan, how do I adapt it to ensure there is still value when we return in January. We also use it for roadblocks as our product is super agile and dependent on third parties. There is always a need to know section.

Oh fuck this dude. I like you, but I am too busy for this daily shit. I'm also an ENT AE so my opinion may not matter.

Have you asked your team what they think, and if they find value in the daily huddle?

The general concensus is they like it, we do a perople survey and they have enjoyed the connectivity. They all prefer over a weekly sales meeting.

Good for ya as far as itโ€™s working, we donโ€™t have this and we are doing great.

We do 2 meeting per week to focus on different areas of sales and find them fruitful.

Short meetings are good. Daily meetings are a bit much. My team asked for two 30-min weekly meetings, so that's what we do.

- First is "how was your weekend and these are the things you need to know"
- Second we focus on skills development and I try as much as possible to avoid any news/updates

What can you say in bed that you can also say in a sales meeting?

Team stand ups normally last max 20 min, with WFH would you rather have your teams camera on or off? What has worked for you to get maximum value from your teams and set the tone for the day?

Has massive growth ever led to mental breakdown? I have been hustling since 17 years old chasing to strive for success doing odd jobs and unintentionally ended up with Edtech K12 Sales as my first official sales job - A toxic culture with no employee respect eventually me to switch after 18 months. Since reps in Edtech are highly valued, had no option but to continue in Edtech sales. This time it was higher education segment, things looked good in the first few month but slowly it started adapting methodologies like the old Edtech since the management was changed. I decided to move out and switch to B2B SaaS. After 13 months of learning & success, my aspirations werenโ€™t matching with the growth vision shared by my manager and ended up being desperate to switch. Got to a AM-Inside Sales role with a 50% hike. Guess what? It led to my mental break down since the culture is pathetic. In entire journey, all challenges never affected my performance but l am losing the spark to glow and hustle eventually. While I plan to switch, a token of guilt is still alive. The experiences have made me far better and strong as a BDR but blank about the next steps in my career. Thanks for reading. Do share your thoughts.
