I loathe your prospecting videos.

When I receive a video in a prospecting email I will open the video and let it play in a different tab because I find this method of outreach so damn awkward. I barely want to see your face when we are on a Zoom demo, so I have even less of a desire to do so when I'm not even interested in buying your product. What's worse is when they are non-personalized...at least tailor it to my very mediocre seniority at my company...

Am I alone here?

How do you feel when you get a video from an S/BDR in an email?

I bet your booking to close ratio would improve tenfold if you sent a video message from the shower.

The few I received made me feel uneasy.

Not like I was threatened in any way, but I was plain uncomfortable. To each their own I guess.

Somebody sends a recording talking fast, using filler words, and unsure of wtf they are pitching me.... Definitely uncomfortable and being unsubscribed from.

I never have used videos, and never will. I think they are incredibly annoying.

We have invested in a video platform at my work.  Most of us hate it. Definitely the older ones who really DGAF about videos in the first place.  Unfortunately, we are tasked with doing one a month until our contract runs out.  I'm now searching for my next target...an account or contact that might actually enjoy getting a video from me.    I wouldn't bother to do it, but my manager, who I like, is asking us nicely if we'll play along, so I'm doing my best to keep her from scrutiny from above.  Sigh.

Tried breaking into Vidyard using this method and got radio silence. If your business is based on helping people do this kind of outreach you could at least have the decency to tell me nope. Anyways, can confirm I have not and will not use video like that to do cold outreach ever again.

I still maintain that I’ve had too much plastic surgery to not do some kind of video. However, I would never do a personal “Hey JANE! How are you handling this hard insurance market?” Or some such bullshit via LinkedIn message or email or whatever. More like, “xyz sucks balls. I know you’re feeling it. Here’s a handy video of me explaining how to make it not so shitty: Slide in my DMs if this gets you hot and bothered.” Then actually call them like a normal person.

If someone made a video voicemail like that, that was engaging and to the point, then I'd be interested. None of this "I am reading you the email that I would have typed to you if it weren't for this awesome technology that my team bought me" bullshit.

Lol the formatting on this site isn’t helping me here. The text you’re reading would be actual text, with a clickable thumbnail in the middle which would play the vid.

That way, they get to see my face if nothing else. If they want to watch the vid, also cool but not really necessary because I’m gonna call anyway.

But someone just reading an email? Gross. That’s like someone chasing after you when you pass a mall kiosk, trying to get you to buy soap or something.

Video prospecting is way too LI influencer from me.

I prefer showing up to their office and giving them a big smooch and saying "hey, buy my shit!" Works every time but would not recommend if your name isn't funcoupons.

Videos are fine if we are engaged in a buying cycle...but if you send me a video that is meant for a CFO then we are done here.

Video's strongest with mid stage deals when info needs to be looped to other stakeholder. It's really powerful as a driver of the conversation between conversations.

I've never been able to crack it on pure outbound prospecting. It hasn't given me a good enough return for the amount of time it takes to do.

I've definitely used it with current ops, makes for a simple walkthrough of features or configurations of settings...but miss me with the out of the blue emails.

The companies exist for a reason, if used correctly they can be awesome. Unfortunately they aren't ever used correctly and are super cringeworthy.

I've only received a couple, (as in 2) but have been really good! Tailored to me, great tone, enthusiasm etc. One of them even made a sale of me.

NGL if someone put a directed by : themselves at the end of the video and did a roll credits I would take the meeting no matter how bad the video was. That would give ma a great chuckle

Sad there's no option for "cautiously optimistic"

Unlike others, I've found a little bit of success, though in a more "old-school" industry (Oil & Gas Tech). It's a pattern disruption. These guys receive emails all day long, and very few competitions (if any) used video.

I landed a meeting with my top-3 accounts using this method. I was EXTREMELY relevant, I knew these guys very well - and I was asking if they'd like to understand how we're partnering with other CIOs in the industry.

and it helps if you're hot.

I like them, but I received a video with someone's kids in it once and I cringed hard. Way to exploit your kiddos for cash.

As someone sending them, they fucking suck. Takes a lot of time and dontget that many opens. (Applicable for cold outreach). For AE level work, it’s helpful to recap stuff
