Professional Groups for Relationship Building?

Hello all,

I got a recommendation from a mentor to join professional groups to build relationships with local contacts (EX: Chamber of Commerce, etc).

Does anyone have experience with this method? Any specific groups/ sites that folks recommend?

Most of my accounts fall in the Southern CA and Arizona area so all recs are welcome.

Is the main goal to network with potential customers?

I would then ask your current customers what groups they are in? Go straight to the source

Good call here. Most of the territory is in net new so my goal was to join and try and make warm connections through the industry.

I do this in my industry and it made an immediate difference for both networking, brand recognition, and reputation building; especially if you are consistently involved.

Absolutely. The local commerce groups are great for this. I've used Meetup.com to search for group in particular areas.

I once looked into a local Chamber of Commerce networking group, but it really wasn't for me because I was targeting a regional area, not a local area.
