Run for the door or fill the gap?

internal promotion question:

GAMs and VP leaving the team resulting in big gaps to fill.  new leadership has serious red flags but I have a lot of leverage to advance my career by staying and taking over the accounts.  I would essentially be a "key person" in the middle of a shitstorm.

stick around with bad leadership, large accounts I understand and skip a level, or find better leadership internally/externally?

comp: would still be underpaid but value would significantly increase internally/externally.

Why not go for internal promotion and if/once you have it just leverage for somewhere else in 6 months?
Or while looking to fill internal role ask high for comp and if they say no, still leave?

Good call I’m leaning towards the former, also wondering what amount of time I’d need to be in role to not burn bridges? (I’ve been at the company a few years)

If you take an internal promotion and leave within a year it may look like you're burning the bridge. Heavily depends on how you leave.
Also, with this current hiring market and also the fact that most Sales VPs don't last 18 months its all a wash anyways (?)

I'm not a VP, so hopefully someone who is can chime in with advice.

Doubling up what @CuriousFox is saying. What does your gut say, do you feel like it is worth it to put in the work and get the experience to bolster your resume?

I have three rules which I live by: Never get less than 12 hours sleep, never play cards with a guy who has the same first name as a city, and never go near a lady with a tattoo of a dagger on her hand. Now you stick with that, and everything else is cream cheese.

@CuriousFox >6months take the shitshow job, a ton of leverage/experience it’ll be a good story. >6months go find smarter ppl & start the next phase I.e. leadership re: @Diablo

I'd stick around. Like the other comments have said it will be good experience, but it will also help when you start seeking a new role if this one ends up not working out. You'll have a higher up title & a good story to tell with it
