I have heard a lot of good things about SaaS for career development.
I would just like to know what's really cooking in the market at the moment, and what is a good starting point for anybody looking to get into SaaS for a career?
There are a ton of SaaS opps open. you just need to find what type of market you want to sell into

hey this is a good post! nice work! ๐
Saas is FOR SURE the delivery method of the future. more and more things are becoming Saas which means you have to pay annually for the service/product you are getting.
So its a solid industry to be in.
The easiest place to start is an SDR/BDR (Sales Development Representative/Business Development Rep, which are pretty much the same).
they are the ones that set the initial discovery call.
What industry are you looking to get into?

CRM products, or advertising tools.

ok so you are probably going to want to look at Salesforce, Hubspot, Close.io, Zapier ect. unless you have closing experience in Saas it will be hard to get anything other than an SDR role in these orgs.

If you are still in college (or younger), check out bigger companies and their summer internship paths. Those are very often ways to get training and a foot in the door for when you graduate.

solid idea!! I wish I could have landed a sales internship when i was in college. like a REAL one.....not the one that turned out to be me selling stuff at a mall kiosk ๐

Check out the jobs tab. Fill out a profile. See what interviews you get matched up with.
SaaS is a great space to be in, and there are a ton opportunities. As others have said, best to target SDR/BDR.
Do you have any sales experience outside of software?

The tough part of SaaS is many SaaS companies ask for experience selling SaaS to come work for them. It's the whole chicken or the egg scenario. If you have solid closing experience then you should be able to transition to AE, but if not the easiest path in is becoming an SDR for a year or so to get promoted.
