We had this. It really pissed off a lot of AE's. Additionally it caused issues with the CSMs because people would sign up without knowing how anything works

my last role had the ability for companies to sign on by them self. it was a product lead growth approach.

it worked really well. it did not effect my commission at all since they were singing up for the free product and i got paid when they converted to the paid for version.

Every business model would have self-serve. Most of us are in sales, we do prospecting so thatโ€™s not the challenge unless you are in an inbound business environment. I am not really sure I understand your question.

I've seen where they can sign up but a rep is notified and has to be involved in some sort of capacity.

Not for my company. We have a complicated to rollout product so we require that we set up the customer first with their account so they don't screw up and then have a bad time.

When I had this, I'd be paid if they were in my portfolio. New new self-serve would go to a rep to upsell and nurture, and any future sales (direct or self-serve) would go to that rep.
