Update to “SVP texted me let’s make you rich”

two key events happened and the investors pulled out. we were all laid off. I got the news while on vacation overseas

my colleagues key account renewed only enough to replace the current solution over the next 12 months.

my key account extended the pilot to more than 800 vehicles. the total opportunity size would have nearly doubled the annual revenue of the company. we ran the pilot for 90 days and presented the final results shortly before thanksgiving.

the client reviewed the data internally before presenting to their ELT. unfortunately, the pilot exposed the flawed assumptions from the dev team. At scale and using proper statistical modeling, the product simply does not deliver on the results. the product was long in the tooth and even if this customer had moved forward, I was already skeptical of the longevity. just the golden handcuffs and the opportunity cost was too high to switch prior to seeing it through.

it's important to share the losses alongside the wins. still on vacation trying to enjoy the trip despite the bad news.

happy holidays everyone. Hope you have a much better Q4.

Absolutely worst timing. Expensive, and hard to find a job

I hope you were paid ahead of this. I hate how companies handle these situations.

Kind of a paradox but enjoy your time off and I'm confident 2024 will be ripe with new employment opportunities.

No worries - i knew it was a do or die and wanted to bounce earlier but the potential commission on the deal was too high to not see it through

Hopefully they gave you a good severance. Now enjoy your vacation knowing you’re not gonna have to catch up on work when you get back!

Sorry to hear that. Being out of work during the holidays sucks - I have been there more than once.

Bright side - this is a good time to do a call blitz into key DM/HMs and line up interviews for Jan. December can be a down month for many.

Haha already ahead of you. Downloaded a list of contacts at target companies before I left. Traveling internationally for another week and then traveling again across the US when I get back so might not be able to start until January.

Prospect agreed to meet but declined due to personal leave. He told me he'd let me know when he returned to the office, this was in November
