LMAO, this is why we love you @CuriousFoxthe candid responses and light filtered responses. I would literally pay to hear you on a sales call/demo. I'm sure it's filtered a tad more, but I feel like I would learn a ton.

My sales calls are definitely different. Right now my boss asks why my mock calls aren't the same as my real calls. The answer is simple. Fake call = fake 🦊

I said cat because I have no child, but that's more for the second half. Dogs are louder but easier to keep off camera.

Also love the fact that a child is classified as a pet.

I mean, people do put their kids on leashes.... I don't and would never do that, but you see some crazy shit out there.

That's always killed me. And making the leash attach to a monkey backpack does NOT make it better.

Have you guys ever had a kid that was prone to darting away from a parent? I've never had to contain even my busiest child, but honestly, I'd rather be judged by other parents than have a kid flattened by a passing car.

There could be a whole thread on this, but I would rather not go down that road. Let's just bring back @paddyand his tactics for dealing with interns and adopt them for children. cabinets, closets, shock collars, and whatever else that enforces fear based tactics of control..... jk, I get where you are coming from @Sunbunny31

Childfree, at least for now. I'll admit that it might be necessary in certain cases, but for awhile it was so prevalent that I think many parents just couldn't be bothered to properly supervise/rear their children.

I might be naïve though

Yep - I was the best parent ever until I had children. It's humbling. The mantra is the same as it is for anything else: don't assume you know what's going on there, and be kind. :)

For sure there are of course the more negligent parents. I am related to one and she drives me absolutely nuts when she visits with her kids - and brings nothing for them to do at a family gathering. Note that my kids are young adults now and we have exactly zero toys left in the house, so her kids predictably get bored and inevitably they do something they shouldn't and I want to smack my sister for "leaving them to use their imaginations" for HOURS. Anyway, yes, sorry, a post for another day. Sorry @antiASKHOLE, got a bit worked up there.

Becoming a parent has only made me less patient with other parents for that kind of shit, and other kids for that matter.

I joke around that I didn't really like kids until I became a father. Now I realize I just don't like other people's kids.

That being said, I get that some days are just rough days. But I'm not going to parent someone else's children because they are too lazy to do it themselves. I'll just focus on my kid and let the others continue to eat cat shit because the other parents can't be bothered to care what their kids are doing. (True story) In all fairness, I did holler across the yard that their kids were eating cat shit.

I feel like with pets most people are pretty understanding. A lot of the time it opens up some small talk and rapport building if they person on the other end of the line is also a per person.

Came here to say that! Oblivious spouse comes in and increases the volume on the radio, or turns on a TV, or starts talking about his day, ignoring the headset and my frantic offscreen hand flailing.

In contrast, I've found pets get a pass and often are ice breakers.

Oh, service people should be there as well. You have a 4 hour window for Comcast or the appliance guy... you have an important call scheduled for 30 minutes in that window. We ALL know when that service person is going to show up - immediately when your call starts!

My son hid off camera and farted [or made farting noises] repeatedly during the part of the call where the President’s wife was speaking and they thought I was laughing at her. I had a really good time.

You just had an awesome proposal call, but everyone is going back to their busy lives. What do you do to keep that momentum alive, especially over a long sales-cycle?
