For your prospects who are leaving the company you're targeting, do you comment on their announcement

Still new to sales and starting as an SDR who focuses a lot more on linkedin social engagement, so I'd love to hear perspectives on commenting etiquette and general relationship-building tips as they relate to sales.

I have an account/company I'd like to target and a key decision maker has announced they left 3 days ago. I want to wish them the best, but I'm also a stranger. Is it tactful to comment or engage with the post at all?

I would comment. Never enough touch points. And it’s low effort

Also low risk. I can't see anyone getting upset about a person wishing them the best on an LI post..

Out of curiosity, is LI engagement your only method of gaining leads? Is this your preference, or company directive?

Doesn't hurt to engage - they're probably used to people they don't know commenting on their posts, especially if they have a large following. Do you follow them already? And I'll echo Bunny as well, in a previous role I had, LI was basically our only way to engage with potential prospects and it sucked, marketing couldn't seem to figure out how to bring the target to us instead of vice versa.

A ‘Like’ and a simple ‘Congratulations!’ Is perfectly appropriate

Yup. They are no longer a target at the company you want.

You're overthinking this.
Also, how is this going to get you a meeting?

Yeah absolutely. I fucking hate social selling (but that’s only ‘cos I sell to marketers) but the more touch points you have the better

They may be a buyer in their new role and name recognitions doesn’t hurt

Just wish the person, will you get traction - don't think so.

I usually give them a "hell yeah brother" or "good luck sis"

Where do the Targets hang out? I found a reddit thread titled "Do you negotiate B2B software contracts?". Looking for more of this.

I’m in the cloud contact center technology space, having a hell of a time getting a second interview, and I think it’s because I am getting stuck. Instead, they do not like my response to the following question “what are your goals with this new role.” Any guidance would be appreciated.
