Gonna go to the Salesforce office in Toronto after applying for SDR. Am I doing something that can work against me or is useless?

As the title says, I applied to SFDC through a referral. I applied 4 days ago and I don't expect a reply for a at least a few more days since they are probably processing 300 applications just for this role. So am I gaining something, losing something or nothing at all by going there? It is located right infront of the hotel that I work at. I just wanna go in, say Hi and see if there is someone that might talk to me. This may blow up in my face grandly or it may not. I just wanna see what happens. Should I not do it or should I just walk-in? What kind of message would it convey to them? What should I say and not say?

TLDR: Will going to the Salesforce office make me look bold, tenacious, relentless or a stupid?

I mean, do you even know if the hiring manager works in that office?

Play out the scenario in your head. You walk into the building lobby and then what?

The senior VP of sales recruiting is in there. Will I meet the man, will he take a day off tomorrow. Im not sure about that.

I saw him on FB. Should I message him?

I admire the initiative. Iโ€™ve never blended personal (FB) with work (LI). You saw him do what on FB?

I just saw his account. Just typed his name space Toronto. There are so many candidates applying for BDR with 2 3 years of Saas Sales experience. All I have worked on is the product, design side of things. I really want to get in not for the bragging rights, because I like what customers and employees have to say about the company. I could go join another Toronto company, but my head is set on Salesforce.

And say what?

You seem to be thinking a lot about step 1, but note steps 2, 3, 4, etc
If it were me, I'd have my friend who referred me badge me in as a guest then introduce me to the hiring manager.

Does your friend who referred you knows this guy? I would connect with him on Linkedin than on FB.

Im sorry for this post guys, for a few days. My headspace was right. I followed the steps properly. Reached out to a current BDR. Got referrals from him and another director of implementation. Messaged 10 recruiters. Created the CV to highlight my small sales achievements even as a product owner. Collabing with presales and AEs, this post was made out of desperation mode. Im gonna start doing the trailhead salesforce BDR program and check out the one coursera has. Thank you for the support.

Patience...

If you applied 4 days ago they probably haven't even looked at your resume yet. I've seen large orgs take 30 days to set up initial screens.

This seems poorly thought out, tbh. Even with a solid idea for the later steps I think best case is that it won't accomplish anything, worst case blow up massively and impact your friend who referred you. Likely somewhere between those two.

They do have a good food court there, or the building next door, can't recall.

Just remember that people, whether prospects or hiring managers, can smell desperation.

Channel that energy into more outreach, get yourself out there but not like this.

Valid point. This may send the wrong message.

Having a bad plan is way better that not having any. After reading all the comments I canโ€™t help but notice that the energy is right there, but the next steps sound like a series of unfortunate events. Leveraging your internal contact to get some more info sounds to me is the best way to move forward.

Since your internal contact doesnโ€™t know the hiring manager, you can have him look this person up on slack and maybe drop a message to pave the stage (?) I did this once when referring my friend to my current company. This is the msg I used:

- hey Dan, happy Monday. I know this is out of the blue so thank you in advance for taking my msg. I referred a friend of mine for the SAM role, recently posted on LinkedIn and heโ€™s the kind of person that loves making extra research and learn everything. Is there any information I can share with him, besides the job description?
โ€”

After a couple of msgs we end up having a quick 1:1 where he explained to me how the recruitment process works (filters, interviews and such) at the end he shared with me his email so he could send a short โ€œhi msgโ€.

ยฏ\_(ใƒ„)_/ยฏ I think thatโ€™s the best card you have right now IMO. Best of luck savage.

i dont think it will hurt. it could show you are serious. but its all about what you do. This person is NOT expecting you, so if you think you will be able to talk to him for more than 3 minutes your wrong.

but if you DO get to talk to him for 3 minutes, i would shake their hand, tell them your name, that you applied and that you would love the opportunity to talk more at a later time. Then leave something behind. a business card or something with you name so they can find it later.

if you CANT talk to them, have something to leave behind with the receptionist. something more than a card. some sort of gift or something that will stick in their mind.

Thats what I would do.

Lmao you saw him On FB. Just go in and ask for the hiring manager for the SDR role and tell him youโ€™re their for your interview. Assume the interview and position. Worst thing that can happen is they say no

And also I disagree with the majority. Just walk in there and mention your friend reccomended you for the sdr position who works their and you were hoping to put a face to the name of the hiring manager. This is real grit and fearless ness. No need to apologize.

Of course ask your friend if theres anything he can do first.

Shit go in their everyday. Shows grit. What you need for the job

As a previous SFDC AEโ€ฆ they wonโ€™t let you in. You have to have an access card or have a salesforce employee let you in by adding you to the internal system.

Do you work remotely or at the office? Would you quit your job if you had to go to the office full time? Iโ€™d quit immediately. Well as soon as I found another job ๐Ÿ˜‚. Currently, Iโ€™m working from home I go to the office once in a while. I can work from any country. I went to the beach for 3 weeks and just took two days off to recover from a festival.
