He's an angry elf

Sup Sales Savages,

Yesterday I called a business owner and it went straight to voicemail sooo naturally(because I get sent to voicemail on accident all the time) I called right back to get 1 ring and back to voicemail. I got a call back 20 minutes later with the old man lecturing me how I am never going to sell anything when I bother someone that much. Then asked me to call back another time and hung up.

Was in the wrong here??

Nope. Always underpromise, overdelivery (when it comes to number of cold calls)

You're good. Sometimes people are grumpy.ย

I usually say something like "oh shoot, I didn't leave a voicemail and thought I'd call back to leave you a quick message"ย

Call me what you want, just sign the damn contract
You are SO okay.

1) I've been yelled at and cussed at and had peers who were straight up threatened for no reason

2) What you did wasn't even shady

3) There are a lot of people who do shit that's in the wrong and you probably just caught the brunt of this guy's frustration

I may have not gone so hard on the calls, but I really like the approach of "I was trying to leave a message"

At the end of the call if they ask to callback another time, I try to get their why to it. It seems like it could be one last effort to be "nice" on their part, but not sure that is valuable in the long run

If I call and get sent to vm, I don't call back the same day. I usually leave at least one day in between cold calls for this exact reason - I don't want to look desperate or like I don't respect someone's time. I wouldn't say you were in the wrong, but maybe chill on the back to back calls.
