I just need to vent

Been working a deal for 4 months now.

its more than 15x what the avg deal size is (Aside from the first deal I closed for them which almost doubled the companies ARR) , and a 3 year contract (longer than any other contract they've received) so TCV is literally more than 45x their avg contract size.

It's taken 30+ conversations due to scoping and this being a larger project than we've ever done and I'm the founding AE. It's turning out to be a much more complicated project than our team thought, and because we're going to be building their application in house, and it's going to cost us "Engineer resources" so I'm going to receive credit for less than 50% of the first year ARR for my quota, and literally no bonuses or anything for the multi year aspect.

on 120k tcv, I'm going to make $1,700.

My second month at the company I increased QoQ revenue by almost 400%.

We've already gone through a Head of sales and replaced him in less than a year.

Anyone at a semi established (ICP, Pain Solved, and sales motion figured out) that's hiring? I'll even take SMB at this point.

Yeah its brutal, especially considering how much work its taken to get this deal done, well over 60 hours of work.

Wow, that is very low. What % of ARR would you normally get? It seems that your regular rate is fairly low as well, unless Iโ€™m missing something, which is entirely possible.

10% of first year ARR is my usual rate, but they're cutting the amount of ARR I'm getting credit for by more than half because of the effort on our end it's going to take to deliver the product.

10% is ok. But you are seriously taking it in the shorts on this one.

You need to talk to them and ask "is <1% the usual commission rate for a sale?" They should get it that its way too low and hopefully do something about it.

Already been brought up, their attitude is " it's going to take a lot of effort on our end to deliver the product and our engineers are US based so they're expensive" and basically implied to be happy im getting anything at all

Yeah, they basically see it as I should be grateful I'm getting anything due to how much work we'll have to do to deliver

Wtf youโ€™re a SALES person! Not an engineer. I get the all hands on deck thing but itโ€™s not your problem that engineers/product canโ€™t deliver. They canโ€™t reprimand you by taking your commission away. Fuck that, blast them on Glassdoor and take off
