Inside Sales Intrigue

I am an inside salesperson and I find myself with free time as my traditional book of business was scrapped for more of a support role.

How would you handle this if suddenly you lost what you had been doing for the entire time you had been with a company?

why would you look for a new job?

You were hired as an inside salesperson, presumably with some kind of (hopefully decent) commission/bonus structure.

The only way to earn said commission is to sell. You're not selling. And you haven't answered what you're actually doing.

It also is a very bad sign for the company overall. You don't know what your future looks like, let alone the future of the company.

There is no current commission for either inside or outside sales people at my company. I work for a large manufacturing company that makes brazing and soldering equipment and consumables.

Sales without commission!?! Ouch

I'd definitely be looking elsewhere. Get a solid base but write your own paycheque.

If it wasn't what I wanted to be doing, I'd be looking for a new job somewhere else.

So...what are you doing now?

Outside sales? Support?

Support role. Minimal customer contact. No real sales to be done.

Thanks for the context.

Affecting your pay? Room for growth?

Time to start looking elsewhere? Support isn't bad by any means, but if you wanna sell, sounds like the writing is on the wall.

So, now you're in a support role? Are you still paid the same and can you support yourself? If yes, stay if you're happy. If not, find something else.

Yeah, it's a support role. Same pay, am happy enough but looking at a divorce and needing my own place has made me think I need to find more money.

Catch-22... the more you make, the more you give her. Tough situation. Keep your head up.

I appreciate it. We actually have an agreement where I wonโ€™t be paying anything per month and Iโ€™ll still get equal time with my kids.

Either embrace it or leave it. Those are basically your two choices here @Moosetadon

If you like the change, stay.
If you donโ€™t, leave.
