Senior SDR to Field Sales Role - what do I need to know?

what's up sellers!

If you take a look at my previous post, I took a field sales role with one my previous company's  competitors. ($87.5k / $175k ote. pay bump was HUGE and im super grateful for it) anyways I was a senior sdr for 16 months and now will run a huge territory of a major midwest city and one of its neighboring states.
My question is: What do I need to know/do before I start and what should i do in the first week, month, etc to get a leg up? (Account list, meet channel partners, etc)
Thanks!

Get a clear 30/60/90 from your manager to know expectations.

Meet with the top performing field reps, here what they do differently

Everything you listed is a great start. I like singling out top performing reps and asking for some advice.

Some basics:

(1) its YOUR job to fill your funnel, not some SDRs.

(2) talk to your co-workers and ask them about what works and what doesn't. Ask your manager the same.

(3) Find a good mentor - someone you can talk to, who can give you some guidance - but be careful about confiding too much.

(4) You should get guidance as to activities from your manager, but it doesn't always happen. Do some internet research related to your industry on Sales Best Practices. You can even have ChatGPT do a 30-60-90 day plan for your specific industry and possibly your exact territory.

Good luck!

oh man, Field sales was awesome. I loved the freedome. It's all your responsibility. I would sugest what I sugest to everybody getting a new job. Learn from the top performers and make sure you know your goals. Count back from goals to amount of contract to contract value to amount of visits to amount of calls to ...

Sit with top reps and study everything they do well.

Organization is critical. Can't follow-up appropriately if you're not organized.

1. learn the product and learn the buyer.
2. learn what the best reps are doing and start doing that.
3. understand how to rank accounts and go break your territory into A B and C accounts and spend your time on A accounts.
