So just became a BDR

I just started in the world of SaaS 4 months ago and I'm doing pretty decent. I was wondering if I could hear a few opening lines for cold calling prospects that don't involve "how are you today?"

I've always been partial to a variation of 'how are you'

It does seem to work.

i normally stick with the "how are you" for some reason it works, I like it, i havnt really switched it up.

is "how are you today" not working for you?

yeah ive heard that too. when i say it, it is more of a formality, but it does help me gauge how the conversation will go.

if the person responds "what do you want" i know this is going to be combative and need to adjust my pitch

if they have a happy tone, i can tone match and try to engage more.

so I find it helpful but i can see why ppl dont want to say it

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
Start with value. They don't care how you are and you don't care how they are. Skip the pleasantries and jump to the reason you're calling.

"Hi this is <YOU> from X Company. We are working with Y Company on <Project> and it was recommended I reach out to your company since you are <Industry adjacent, in the same business, geographically close, whatever other plausible business reason>. Can you help me find the person in your company who cares about what I sell?

"Hope your day is going well" works. Typically, people either say "yeah" in which case you know you need to cut to the chase, or they ask about your day, build rapport, small talk.
