thoughts on gamifying sales?

Been in tech sales for about two years.Ive always enjoyed competition in sports and looking at a scoreboard to see who is on top.Just like playing video games.

Curios to learn other thoughts on what mental model you adopt to stay motivated and reward yourself.

Better than yesterday. Every single day. Effort directly correlates to cash. I like money.

Look at the sales dashboard. Are you top of the board or not. Done. Game on.

And if you’re on top you usually get paid more since you have sold more, I hear this is a pretty good indicator as well.

Money. Nothing better than a net new, cold ass account no one has ever called on that takes months to get ahold of, finally getting a disco call, demo and then a bunch of no leave me alones and then some flipping how you get a massive order out of them!
Check hits then go party! Got my self a Breitling watch with my last one like this.
Now that was motivating

I totally eyeball the pipelines and metrics and see where I fall. Best be on the top.

Honestly, just having rankings and % to goals does it for me. I see everyone’s work and know how to rank amongst the group to inspire more/better work.

I’m with you. Gamifying any tasks motivates me. But I have to be attempting to achieve a goal I believe in. 300 emails a week? I’m not hitting that number just to hit it. Scoring high on Lavender all week? Okay now I know that every email I sent had the best chance of getting a reply.

Maybe I’m alone but gamification from management always feels so patronizing .. Im an adult and highly motivated by commmish I don’t want or need little games to do my job (no knock on anyone else who like it) Perhaps my company particularly over does it but feels like everything’s a little game I just picture them in some meetin like “let’s put them on teams and let them pick out team names it’ll be so fun”

I don't care about any of that crap. How does that help me or serve me? It doesn't.

One day at a time my dude.
