Trust vs Respect

One does not automatically equal the other.

Someone can respect your efforts, but not trust your motive.

Another can trust your motive, but not respect what you need to act.

I'm finding the path to holding both requires careful deposits and withdraws.

Know when you are...

  1. Missing both, invest wisely
  2. Missing one, ask for the other
  3. Have both, protect and use them

They call me Daddy, Sales Daddy
I worked with a guy years ago who I trusted but did not respect at all. I knew that if I asked him to do something, it was done and very professionally. But he always came across as a slimy, used-car salesman type and had a number of vices I didn't agree with. We got along fine, I just always kept it professional.

Sounds like respect, but not trust.

You respected his ability to get shit done, but not that he would do so with integrity
