What % of team should be hitting quota?

When evaluating the health of a sales team, the percent of the team hitting quota is definitely a big metric. What would you all say is a healthy % of team hitting quota though?

Thanks for the tag in!

I think the goal year on year, because you donโ€™t want to view a single year in a silo is 80% consistently. This of course depends on sales cycles. Higher is ideal, but if you look over a 3-5 year span you want to see 80% consistently. People have up and down and outliers, so that gives a good focus on whatโ€™s successful.

In theory โ€“ 100%.
In reality, the 80/20 rule is good, unless corporate expectations are unreasonable

The quota should be attainable by all, but there are usually other factors that mean some reps just don't hit from time to time. I'd like to see at least 80% of the reps hitting the number, but 70% is not unreasonable.

70% is a pretty good number in my mind, everyone should have the ability and chance to hit quota but some people will get unlucky or just too new to hit quota.

if the reps are fully ramped, in theory 100%. However you have to account for some people being unlucky or just not cutting it, so safely 75-80%

One would hope for 100%, but a reasonable expectation would be 75%.

But in all seriousness I think 80% should be the number to drive for but 70% is acceptable.

80/20 is always a good rule of thumb for most cases.

70% is around industry average. My current team is 14% (including me last quarter thankfully) with suggestions for quota reduction outright dismissed

80% at least imo. Ut companies donโ€™t want to pay out so it seems like 60% is considered fair/acceptable in the industry.
My team is around that 60% mark

I thought 60% was pretty standard in SaaS, but think 70-75% is a good target

My company is entirely sales driven and thereโ€™s only 8 of us that the US side relies on. We are in Canada and the UK too, but US side brings in at least 90% of the revenue. So the expectation is everyone is always hitting or weโ€™re out. But like what other have said, 70% is a great starting point. If no one is hitting the product either sucks or the goals were created unrealistically

Don't forget about marketing being a total fuckshow and nobody knowing anything about your company at all - that's been a problem for me lately
