What percentage of AEs should hit quota?

Only two years into sales so was curious what's a good percentage of reps/AEs that should hit quota? My current company is 40/50% a year is that about average? Thanks savages.

If AEs had their way, 100% would hit their number. But they don't put us in charge.
So: it used to be that they'd expect 70-80% of the reps to hit their annual number, with the remainder hitting about 70-80% of their target. I know there were variances within companies, but that was about where things were based on the management I talked to many years ago.
Then the bigger tech companies decided that saturating the marketplace and overhiring was a great strategy, and that attainment % dropped. I'm pretty sure that 30% meeting quota was considered acceptable in the broader scheme of things, though the VPs and managers would never let you believe that. Honestly, I'm thinking that 40-50% was considered above expectations.
Now with all the layoffs, I'm honestly not sure where the attainment will land. In smaller orgs, they're counting on MOST reps to make their number, as it's essential. Larger orgs have pared back on staff, but probably have more tolerance for missing, as long as the market is still saturated by their teams.
the TL/DR is that I really don't know.

Definitely in line with expectations AND experience from 5+ years ago. Plot twist, only 1/7 at my current have hit even though our collective team has brought the company the 3 best Qs in company history…so the real TL/DR is that companies are greedy, no one still gives any fucks about salespeople and marketing will constantly have jobs for no reason.

I am hoping to hear 70% whenever I interview, I am always asking what is the MEDIUM quota attainment for your reps. Not the average or the team %, since those can be screwed by an outlier

Currently, I am hearing a lot of 30-40%. That is tough on the rep when you get sold the dream.

"Should" hit and "Do" hit are very different. They shouldn't be in but of course we know the reality. Just another reason why I say quotas are pointless. I'd say 50% is probably the norm. Because as soon as a company sees half their reps hit quota they want to up it for the next round.

Ideally, 100% hit quota because its a reasonable number, they have the sales skills and training, and the product they are selling is good. But that's never the case.

I managed a team years back where we managed to hit 100% team quota but not everyone on the team hit their own quota...

I have also been there when 0% hit quota.
So it can be all over the board.

You would HOPE as high as possible. 50% seems standard because you will never be 100% because there will always be a shitty rep in the org. There will be some hard workers that don't get over the hump as well due to market conditions, so wouldn't let that number concern you.

Also, word of advice, would probably hide your company name for your war room profile. Don't want it getting back to them somehow that this is being discussed externally.

at a good org 60-70% of reps should be hitting quota.

Depending on the company's working environment and if they're getting the required support from SEs when required to explain the product right and on time from a side, and the SDRs that have to only qualify the promising prospects on the other.
As long as everybody is doing his job here, I believe it should be nearly 80 to 90% by assuming the AE also is doing his part and already has the required closing skills.
If any factor drops it might get down to your rate or even lower!

Anything under 60% across the board is a massive red flag.

My company is probably around 40% if that. Over-hiring is killing the opportunity
