Yesterday Was a Shitshow: A Haiku

Come in at 9 flat

A lot of work to be done

An interview too

9:30: weird pain

All in lower back, uh oh

Try to push it through

By 10: pain much worse

What time is my interview?

At 12:30, shit

I can tough it out

Just go for a walk outside

But the pain gets worse

Rushed to hospital

It's 11, but who cares

Will miss interview

Now at hospital

Need to wait on a long line

Pain so bad can't move

Throw up on the floor

Everything spinning around

Needle stuck in arm

"It's morphine" she says

There's a kidney stone inside

Clock reads 2:30

Sitting on a bed

Pain is subsiding quickly

How did this happen?

It's time to go home

Pick up ice cream at Duane Reade

Cold call tomorrow :)

What a fucking day haha...anyone experience anything similar?

Fun update: now back in the ER because I have a fever and chills. Likely an infection to go along with the kidney stone. Thank God I caught it tho because it gets dangerous if you don't get medical attention.

What a ride :) hope this never happens again.

last Monday actually, woke up with a killer pain my right abdomen, I couldn't get out of bed, it was like someone was stabbing a knife in my liver,
I deal with it look on webmd I come to this conclusion I could have pancreatitis, should go away in the morning, pain just gets worse, at around 8pm Tuesday I go to the Hospital
dr says its my galbladder, wants to rush me to surgery, I said were doing a scan first. we do the scan she comes back 30 minutes later says I have an Omental infarction and told me she had to google it bc she's never heard of it,said its super rare and we dont know what causes this.
I get admitted into the hospital, load me up on antibiotics and morphine and Valium all night, they tell me if symptoms persist after 2 weeks, we need to do surgery, but antibiotics and Percocet should do the trick.
I missed thanksgiving for the first time in my life, so that sucked, finally starting to feel better now where the only pain is if I move quickly or take in deep breaths.
Praying that im healed up this week, no surgery required and im ready to go at my new job.

Jesus. That sounds terrifying.

This is actually the third time I got kidney stones so I kind of knew what was going on, but def the longest one I’ve had (5 ish hours of pain).

The first time I got them I was terrified because I didn’t know what was happening. That was by far the worst part, even more than the unbearable pain.

Your situation sounds really scary as even the doctor didn’t know what was going on. Hope you speed through this and that it’s forever done with 💪

only 400 known cases since 1899, super scary. Luckily I think ill be okay. The pain was compared to kidney stones or breaking all the ribs on my right side. Feeling better each day
