Executive Integrity

I've been on several different channel sales calls with a few of our execs

(CCO, CFO, CCO, COO).

They've gotten in a habit of blatantly lying about our capabilities. Completely embellishing things and just making stuff up to prop our company up. Making up growth stats (doubling revenue every month!), "we're the largest independent xyz company in THE WORLD".....my new favorite: "We integrate with EVERY system out there!"..yea we don't do that...

To an extent, salespeople make alot of stuff up..but within reason, and maintaining our integrity, because we have to implement the stuff. can't go too far off the rails.

Our exec team has gotten out of control with it. Is it worth it to discuss with the exec team? Is their behavior ethical? What are your experiences with embellishing things to win deals?

Do you realistically think you talking to your exec team will change their behavior?

Iโ€™m 100% against selling vaporware or future tech that isnโ€™t on the roadmap for more than a quarter.

this is always the question i ask my self/others about shit like this.

YES its terrible,
YES its a reason to leave the company,
but if the leaders are ok saying that, will YOU make a difference?.........no. so ether just leave or be ok with it

Our value system is very defined, we donโ€™t promise what we donโ€™t have.

As you mentioned they have made it a habit, I am not positive that they would change. You might want to bring this up but I am afraid that they would not take it as a room of improvement and you might be wrong positioned - just my thoughts

If they think this is part of doing business, then there is a good chance they are lying to you too

Any time I've made stuff up it's landed me in crap with the customer at some point with not being able to deliver on expectations so I now just sell what's real.

Sounds like it is only a matter of time before the proverbial chickens come home to roost and your company credibility is shot. All you can do is be ethical in your own practice and hope none of this directly affects you.

I'd keep my head down on this one. You'll make yourself a target.

It's good to an extent, and that means as long as the agreed task is achievable!

Max they can lie about it is only the time length that could be stretched to get it done nothing further, so if that line was crossed, certainly you need to discuss it with the exec team.

If they didn't comply and it might deeply impact company's reputation or even gets closer to your resume then that would never be the place for you and you need to jump the ship Asap!

Sounds unethical in the least, lies will catch up to them eventually, they always do.

You mean the same executives that lie about quota, territory, TAM, and then lay their people off to save their own ass? I dont think there is any presumption that they had integrity to begin with tbh

If people get screwed over as a direct result of the lies, karma will pay a visit.
