Making mistakes…

Fellow Enterprise sellers,
I recently sent out a campaign via messaging on LinkedIn sales Navigator and now regret doing so.  Does anyone have any suggestions as to how I can redeem myself here?

LinkedIn does not allow for deletion of the outbound messages.. so I'm just wondering what my options are and if anyone has done this before.

I know, Rookie mistake... any suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks!
V

Own it. Don't mention it again, and don't spam again. Live and learn.

Also what did u write? Unless it was an erotic story about pressure washer adventures or a picture of your dick I don't think u need to stress

My suggestion is to not do it again and chalk up the L here. It happens to the best of us. I'm one of the best fucking sales reps in the world and I did this shit too at one point.

You can begin by sending a classy written invitation for the affected prospects to sip a charming cocktail and watch u shower.

Just own it as a learning exercise and like others said, hope they just deleted it and assumed it was spam and didn't read it.

Just don't do it again, and don't stress.   Unless it was horrible, those contacts won't remember it anyway.

At least your marketing department didn't ask you to use your LI messaging to blast out a message to contacts during a campaign for them.   That was ignored.

Selling through LI is brutal, it's an info gathering tool at best for me.

Sorry dude, that's one you gotta eat.

Thanks all. I considered apologizing until I realized it could potentially worsen the situation. It’s a tough market in New York…

What specifically did you do? I would just move on from it really. We've all sent out messages with mistakes in them

Human makes mistake and accepting it is the way to go. I would take it as a learning and make sure it doesn't repeat.

I once sent a message complaining about a prospect to a prospect. Was in the final stages of the deal. It was awful. Prospect ended up calling another rep, who, thank god was a friend of mine and sat right next to me. He closed and her and we cut the deal in half. Expensive lesson to learn.

I crush linkedin prospecting and have managed to still get meetings after sending terrible messages(by following up with much better messages and pretending they don't exist).

Couple of options here:

1) Blame your BDR "sorry my BDR was sending linkedin blasts, happy to send a starbucks giftcard or lunch via GrubHub to make up for it"

2) Own how bad it is "yikes that was rough.  Here's an article from CIO Dive about xxxxx that I think might actually be helpful, have a nice holiday season"

3) (My fav) - use the dart method, periodically follow up with a random article/case study/happy holidays message until it gets buried in their linkedin messages

Appreciate this! The message wasn’t a bad one, I just don’t think I should have tried selling on LinkedIn but who knows what is right from wrong these days… good news is, I did get a couple meetings out of what I sent, but still will use this messaging. Thanks!

I am confused. What did you do wrong? Prospecting on LinkedIn is one of my best channels.

Any suggestions on what has been effective?
Im debating myself whether or not this was the right or wrong move at this point, I just know a lot of leaders don’t like doing business on LinkedIn… but then again, I know it can be effective and I did get some meetings.
