Question- If you take perscription medicaiton to help focus, is that the same to you as someone who uses cannabis to execute?

I have struggled with this as a leader and someone who does leverage Rx meds to help with anxiety and ADHD (recent diagnosis).

To me, these help me focus and execute, and allow me to get out of my own way to perform.

With that, I do or have judge those who may consume cannabis during the day for the exact objective to them.

I guess it could also be said that somehow who drinks alcohol and finds they are more relaxed and perform better, could also be considered in this discussion.

Curious to hear folk and their takes, both personally, but also in observation of your peers in this fish bowl that is sales.

If you're creative I can see that, but for executing in sales? Doubtful.

Plus there's a big difference between a prescription and self-medication.

My take exactly.

And using alcohol as a performance driver is a very slippery slope. You might THINK you're performing better, but alcohol has a mind of its own.

I can't see any way that you perform better in sales being drunk/high, but as long as it doesn't affect me, no issues on my end

Thatโ€™s part of the potential danger. You believe youโ€™re better with the substance, you end up using it as a crutch, you may continue to slide into addiction. It is simply something to be aware of.

And there's that. I don't need to know about anything people do to get by.

If it affects their work and I'm their manager, then yes. Otherwise, not my business.

ive been diagnosed with ADHD Combined for about a year and have been on meds for probably about 9 months and only 4 of the 9 have been on a stimulant.

I also use cannabis almost daily, at night. But that is to just chill out. and I smoked in college and stuff like many ppl.

i find it hard to believe that cannabis can make you execute better for your job. but then again I am no expert. Adderall is a stimulant, cannabis is not (if im not mistaken).

For ME adderall helps me focus and stay on task. Cannabis makes me relaxed, hungry and chill. but i do not find my self wanting to be productive. and i dont consume alot.

I have no issues with ppl who consume cannabis at all. i think it should be treated more like alcohol is treated here in the US.

but im still weary of ppl that use cannabis to EXECUTE better.

Yeah didn't think cannabis would be used for executing either

It would be the individual's discretion on how they feel. In Canada, we are decriminalized, and folks can consume (not drive) as they wish. Policies in the work place are the same, no bueno.
But, like alcohol, folks will suggest or infer they feel what they feel.

I agree with the stimulant and how it has benefitted me.

I was always the most hyper, over communicator, and now in my 40s, wished I would've treated this sooner, as I assume it would've helped me dramatically in university/college, and during the start of my marriage and father hood.

Thanks for sharing!

Ive used cannabis to explore new worlds, laugh historically, get super scared and slow down. On the opposite side of the balance, Ive used modafinil to mitigate jet lag, focus intensely and work longer periods of time. I would not want to work in sales with anyone that takes a hit before cold calling or sending a contract

I guess that's the challenge. Everyone uses something to some extent, to perform, recharge, and focus. The alcohol is a stretch, but, not too far down the line will me psilocybin (mushrooms) for PTSD, anxiety, etc. Same for some regulated use of ketamine (intranasal) or cannabinoids (different deliveries) which start to hit the main stream.

I agree with you. My comment comes across as a blanket statement for cannabis, and I failed to acknowledge cannabinoids. Someone close to me (not in sales but in a line of work that requires deep work and intense focus) had good experiences with microdoses of psilocybin;thegenieis out of the bottle!

Yeah this one is dicey. I like to take the approach of the law as it sits. But, if someone is drunk at work or high at work, I'd treat them as having equal consequences

Adderall has helped me immensely. I try to break up usage though to maintain tolerance and limit increasing mg.

To answer your question, no I would never judge another for using cannabis.

I'd evaluate any friend, family member or coworker for their effort and how they treat people IMO over their "drug" use. But I can't smoke during the day and be productive.

i worked for a guy who used cannabis a lot, although mostly at night. He claimed it was for his anxiety (which I call BS on, but whatever). He never used during the day. I know he had a box full of RX meds.

My point - I don't think MJ is a "take charge of the day" thing and I have yet to see it being used or advertised as such.

Society is vastly overmedicated as it is, but idgaf what you do as long as you can do your job at the level that is expected and you don't hurt other people.

Did doctor prescribe these meds to you, or are you taking it on your own?
As much as I hate to say this, taking anything (meds / alcohol / some protein powder or shiz) just to be able to focus or perform better is just like clickbait. It's not going to match what you are capable of doing, without these.

That being said, if you are on meds because of ADHD or anxiety, that's no equivalent to cannabis consumption only to execute.

There's a difference between the organic (medical) need of a Rx to treat a condition, and the perceived need of a something (cannabis, alcohol, food) to perform. Regardless, I am in no position to judge anybody.

AEโ€™s - hereโ€™s a very client-centred way to gather information about โ€˜WHENโ€™ a decision needs to be made. Doing it this way will help you shorten sales cycles and build trust. Keep in mind - not every question I ask in this example is a perfect fit for every buyer, but should give you a good place
