Most companies I've been at had a standard contract..

Are you required to build one out every time?

I've also had to amend and update, but not as an AE.

Even with standard contracts, there are ways to maximize or configure the structure that most aren't taught. For example adding in a pure discount off a contract is bad business for ASP and expansion.

During my career, I was never provided training, but learned quickly on how to build better contracts and increase my commission.

Oh, I see. You're not talking about literally building a contract. You're talking about the business structure of the deal and good negotiation tactics.

Nope, we just use proposify and have templates with some parameters we're able to edit (with management approval, of course).
